Update: I responded to the second one that if he was serious I would ask my family to check as it is not currently in my possession. The response was surprising yet understandable:
There are very few 97 that color in New England. I purchased one new from greater Boston motorsports new in 97....if that is my old bike I will buy it.
If this guy is serious , I can appreciate that kind of attachment and would 3000% love for it to have been his at some point. I’ll find out eventually. Probably a crock.

I thought that but at the same time that level of detail in questioning? Wtf? I feel like if I send an answer any response would be, “and what about the 3rd spoke from the left on the back wheel?”

hey, you at least got that. I’ve given up on selling my V-Star this year; all I got from both CL and Cycle Trader was the usual “I’m US Military currently on deployement” scams.

My guess is it’s someone who has had the same bike stolen at some point, and is looking to see if it’s their bike.
I’ve been walking around for years, looking at every Mk2 VW GTI I see in a parking lot, to see if it has a very small dent by the crease for the rear left brake lights.
It’s a thing. It happens when someone steals something you love and it’s never recovered.

I had a few offers last time I went to sell. Someone giving me asking after some discussions fell through day of intended sale. Subsequent prospective buyer tried to basically take me at 20% asking price. Then two others never got back. I anticipate the same here.
I got those scams for kitchen chairs two years ago, though, haha.

Every time I use CL to sell something I loose fath in humanity. Then about a week later I get a legit contact and sell the item. Faith slightly restored.

Someone mentioned that. Never thought of that.
Funny considering I’ve never seen another Intruder, let alone specifically a blue/white VS1400 with straight pipes and a nitrogen rear shock setup.

My car, yes.
My motorcycle? Too many to count and I’m over a year removed from riding it. As it is, the bike is unique purely by what it is. Other than that, there are pits and fades across the entire thing I am aware of, tears on the seat, a weird ding on the back and then the random American flag sticker I couldn’t peel off.
